幾乎以為兩科的第三課都會延至第五週才上……

　　昨天是 Add/Drop 後的第一課 (20050927)，所以 Prof He 要我們自我介紹。原來只有我是理科出身的，其他同學大多唸中英文……待我記記他們的名字：Dorothy, William, Don, Helen, Lesley, Winnie, Natalie, Bobo, Ms Chan, Ms Mak, Fong Fong, Joseph... 只記得這麼多，應該漏了三位（名字也可能會串錯了）。

　　第三課學 NP, Noun Phrase. 最簡單的 NP 就只有一個 N：

cars => [N' cars] => [NP [N' cars]]

但當我們要加上形容詞等等的時候， N' 便會有很多重。但唯一可行的是（如 five big red sports cars）：

sports => [N' sports] => [NP [N' sports]] red => [A' red] => [AP [A' red]] big => [A' big] => [AP [A' big]] find => [Q' five] => [QP [Q' five]]

cars => [N' [NP [N' sports]] cars] => [N' [AP [A' red]] [N' [NP [N' sports]] cars]] => [N' [AP [A' big]] [N' [AP [A' red]] [N' [NP [N' sports]] cars]]] => [NP [QP [Q' five]] [N' [AP [A' big]] [N' [AP [A' red]] [N' [NP [N' sports]] cars]]]]

cars: Head sports 那個 NP: Complement （最多一個） red, big 那些 AP: Adjunct （可多於一個） five 那個 QP: Specifier （最多一個）

　　回家途中，想到兩棟建築的名稱：Bank of Communications Building 和 Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. 該如何拆解呢？

Communications => [N' Communications] => [NP [N' Communications]]
