　　聖誕時節，讀了一篇關於 "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing" 的文章，說十件大家未必知道的事。
　　果不其然。
　　先簡述這十件事 ¹：

　　「今天有太多壞消息，」姊姊傳來訊息，「顧嘉煇和劉紹銘。RIP。」
　　那天事忙，匆匆讀到顧先生過世的報道，竟然沒有多大反應。午後，再從姊姊的訊息裡得知劉教授辭世，感受才一併緩緩滲出。

　　以往逛書局，經常在西方小說區看到愛倫坡這個名字，書名又往往搭著「驚悚、推理、懸疑」。但愛倫坡究竟是何許人呢？不曾深究，橫豎 horror and terror 不是我會看的類別。哪知，愛倫坡比福爾摩斯——呀，柯南道爾才對——還要早成名。

一年容易又中秋，

我們這一輩對香港歷史的認識近乎零，只知道一九六七年無綫電視開台播放之後的事情，甚至連六六年暴動也毫無印象。世界上大概沒有比我們對自己長大的地方了解得更少的人了，但這不能怪我們，殖民地是毋須擁有記憶的。但在殖民地走向終結的時候，我們忽然醒覺到自己腦袋的空白，急於追認自己的身分，但卻發現，除了小說，除了虛構，我們別無其他的依仗。歷史敘述變成了小說的一種，沒有人能堅持自稱純粹整理史料的偽裝。
